Training
Appointments
Training appointments are available to
help owners and their dogs have a good working relationship. They
can cover many aspects of training, from the basics to the advanced
and in all ages of dog, from puppies to adults.
While behaviour and training does
overlap, these appointments are primarily practical exercises and
games to help you in the training of your dog. Your appointment may
cover pulling on the lead, recalls or jumping up. In fact, any area
you feel you need some help with.
You will discuss with the trainer any
special areas of training which are important to you and you will
then follow a training programme designed to suit your needs.
Most adult dogs will benefit from these
training appointments as they can be tailored to suit your
individual needs.
You may even consider a consultation
where problems don’t exist but want to prevent them in the first
place – perhaps if you are adopting or re-homing an older
dog!
Some dogs require more stimulation than
others so these training sessions will also benefit owners looking
for some extra activity for their dog and to gain some ideas for new
exercises/games to practice.
There are different methods of dog
training available and you may wish to try something new, such as
clicker training or using a whistle. Please feel free to discuss
with us any areas you are interested in.
Appointments can be
booked ‘as required’ and you are therefore
under no obligation to pre-book a number of sessions or pay in
advance. It is however, often the case that regular training
appointments will help you and your dog get the most from the
training and you can arrange weekly, fortnightly or monthly
sessions, whichever suits you both. If you pre-book a course
of training sessions these will be available at a discounted price
(payable in advance).
The cost of a 1 hour Training

2 Hour training Appointment £80.00
Set of 3 lessons (5%

(prices may vary
depending on location)
Behaviour Consultation
A home visit to provide one- to – one
advice is sometimes necessary to help owners understand their dogs
behaviour and to address any specific problems that dogs are
displaying. These may include housetraining problems, barking,
general excitable or unusual behaviour, aggression, anti-social,
destructive or other problems which require more time than basic
training.
A home visit will last for the morning,
approx 2½ - 3 hours and owners will be involved in discussing their dogs behaviour
problems. Your trainer will help you to put into place a
practical solution towards changing the behaviour and resolving
problems your dog may be experiencing.
You
will also gain advice in other areas you will find beneficial.
Sometimes, further training
appointments will also be useful to gain regular help and
support to help you and your dog resolve any problems. (see Private
Training Appointments ).
It is important to remember that in
most cases of behaviour problems with dogs, there is no magical cure
and owners will be required to participate and follow the guidelines
agreed with the trainer in order for a dogs’ behaviour to change.
You will be able to telephone your
trainer while you are implementing your programme for any advice on
problems you are experiencing and to check any areas you are unsure
of so you will still have a point of contact and support if you need
it.
Please feel free to contact us for advice
on behaviour consultations.
The cost of a
Behaviour Consultation is £150.00
(This may vary
depending on location)
